Writing
A good piece of writing is developed when consideration is given to 6 Traits or Characteristics which include:
1. Ideas/Content
You can tell what my main idea is.
My details make my writing clear and interesting.
I have good knowledge of this topic.
You can tell what my main idea is.
2. Organization
I stick with my main topic.
My beginning hooks you.
My writing is easy to follow-like a road map!
My ending is just right.
3. Voice
My writing sounds like me, and no one else.
I want to share this writing with others.
I like this topic and it shows.
My writing is exciting and bursting with energy.
4. Word Choice
I used strong verbs (action words) to give it a boost.
My words make sense.
My words help the reader see, hear, feel, taste, and smell things.
I have used new words.
I can tell the reader what my words mean.
5.Sentence Fluency
My writing is easy to read.
I used sentences in my writing.
My sentences begin in different ways.
Some of my sentences are long, and some are short.
If I used dialogue, it sounds like someone is actually speaking.
6.Conventions
I did not repeat words, or forget words I needed.
I checked for mistakes in spelling, and punctuation.
I used capital letters where I needed them.
My paragraphs begin in the right spots.
